President Says Presidential Human Rights and Sci-Tech Work Will Go On.
When attending a ceremony for the publication of Human Rights and Taiwan and Science, Technology and Taiwan on May 17, President Chen Shui-bian said that although the Presidential Human Rights Advisory Committee and the Science and Technology Consultation Council will soon cease operation, the Office of the President will continue to focus on the two issues no less and the related work will be carried on under the direction of Vice President Annette Lu.

Human Rights and Taiwan and Science, Technology and Taiwan are the journals recording the works of the two presidential advisory groups, which will stop functioning according to the resolution made by the Legislative Yuan.

The two publications summarize the two groups' research and comments on Taiwan's human rights protection and Sci-tech development. "The two books have witnessed the efforts made by the council and the committee, and I hope that our country will continue to be firmly based on the two core spirits--human rights, and science and technology."

Vice President Lu, Chairwoman of the groups, also attended the ceremony.
