On May 25, President Chen Shui-bian appointed Wong Chi-huey as the 9th president of the Academia Sinica, ROC (Taiwan).
Wong will replace current Academia Sinica President Lee Yuan-tseh, who will retire from the position this October.
Highly recognized in chemical biology and synthetic organic chemistry, Wong has received various international honors, including being elected academician of the Academia Sinica, ROC (Taiwan) (1994), and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1996).
