The presidential building was open to the general public today, which attracted 5,162 people to visit the building. Today's event also marked the 53rd time since the presidential building was first open to the public on January 2, 1995, and until this time the total number of the visitors has reached 752,473. The next opening day is scheduled for August 6 this year.
Visitors today had appreciated the displays of presidential office historical photos, ROC (Taiwan) military and civil medals, local cultural attractions, paraphernalia and cultural goods of the current and the previous presidents, and the historical documents of the Taiwan Governor-General Office, which was the antecedent establishment of the current Office of the President during the Japanese occupation.
This year also marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the presidential building, and, in celebration, the Office of the President is hosting a photography contest that welcomes citizens to give the presidential building a "good shot."
Secretary-General to the President Mark Chen especially thanked the visitors, the police, and the volunteers, who had rendered today's event successful.
