When meeting with a group of Japanese engineers on June 12 at the Office of the President, President Chen Shui-bian said that to develop "resource conservation" and "environmental protection" technologies is urgent for both Taiwan and Japan in their pursuit of sustainability.
Admiring Japan's advanced technologies in above-mentioned areas, the president told his Japanese guests that he had asked his administration to more actively promote cooperation with Japan in these two fields.
The 70-plus Japanese engineers are currently in Taipei attending the "26th Taiwan-Japan Conference on Engineering Techniques," which the president wished great success.
