President Chen Meets with Members of Taiwan Society.
President Chen Shui-bian met with representatives of the Taiwan Society on June 22 at the Office of the President, and thanked them for their love to Taiwan.

As regards the televised report he made to the nation two days ago to counter the opposition's recall motion, the president said to his guests that he respected all comments in this regard, and emphasized that he had "told it like it is."

In the meeting, the president welcomed his guests' opinions on how to enhance Taiwan awareness and strengthen Taiwan's democracy, freedom, and human rights conditions.

The president also congratulated his guests on the founding of their "Taiwan Society" on June 18. The Taiwan Society is an integrated body of the existing Taiwan Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Central Societies, and other pro-Taiwan local and overseas associations.

Cho Jung-tai, Deputy Secretary-General to the President, was also present in the meeting.
