President Chen Shui-bian entertained Dominican Republic President Leonel Antonio Fernandez Reyna with a state banquet on June 27 in Tainan County, President Chen's hometown, thanking him for supporting Taiwan's demand to participate in the international community.
President Chen thanked his guest especially for supporting Taiwan's bid to join international organizations like the United Nations and the World Health Organization, and for persistently promoting the relationship between Taiwan and the Dominican Republic.
In addition to praising President Fernandez's achievements in boosting Dominican Republic's economy and in cutting the country's inflation rate, President Chen said in the banquet that he fully admired President Fernandez's initiatives and efforts in bridging the digital gap in the Dominican Republic. He said he is convinced that President Fernandez's vision will lead Dominican Republic's technology development to a new horizon.
"Es Para adelante que vamos!' ("Let's walk ahead with great valor!") President Chen finally wished his guest and the peoples of Taiwan and the Dominican Republic prosperity and bright future.
