President Chen Speaks at Seminars on National Development and Women's Leadership.

When officiating at the joint opening ceremony of the 6th Seminar on National Development and the Seminar on Women's Leadership on June 29 in Taipei, President Chen Shui-bian said the plan for Taiwan's overall sustainable development should be fused on five aspects, namely: national security, deepening of democracy, economic sustainability, social justice, and civic society.

These five aspects, the president added, are based upon the principles of "democratic Taiwan and sustainable development" and "pursuing peace through dialogues."

The president also expected that the "Conference on Sustainable Growth in Taiwan Economy," to be held July 27-28 in Taipei, would win the people's support.

In conclusion, the president welcomed the seminar participants to give suggestions and comments on national development and wished the seminars great success.
