Vice President Lu Speaks at Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce Meeting.
When speaking at a meeting of the Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce on July 12, Vice President Annette Lu cited a South Korean report as saying that excessive investment in China has resulted in the country's overdependence on China economically and increases in unemployment.

As to the issue of direct flight between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, the vice president said that it seriously involves Taiwan's "national, social, economic, and defense securities" and thus calls for overall considerations.

While foreseeing the growing importance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the vice president protested that Taiwan's endeavors to join the international organization have always been blocked by China.

Toward the end of her speech, the vice president mentioned the recent scandals and corruptions in Taiwan, and called on the public investigators to fulfill their duties independently and impartially.

In conclusion, she said to her audience that Taiwan is the home where they can always return and find warmth.
