President Chen Congratulates Winners of 46th National Elementary and High School Science Fair.
President Chen Shui-bian received winners of the 46th National Elementary and High School Science Fair on August 3 at the Office of the President.

He congratulated the 56 young scientists on standing out from the keen intra-school, local, and national competitions, believing that by the means of data collection, experimental observation, and synthetic analysis they must have learned how to be methodical in order to satisfy their intellectual curiosity.

The National Elementary and High School Science Fair has been held annually by the National Taiwan Science Education Center since 1960, and is the cradle for Taiwan's potential scientists. Its 46th event attracted 365 contestant projects, which had been displayed to the general public until the end of July.

Praising his young guests as top guns of Taiwan's reform in science education, the president told them he has placed in their hand Taiwan's future as the "Green Silicon Valley." Their visit to the Office of the President was accompanied by Taiwan's Minister of Education Tu Cheng-sheng, and Deputy Secretary-General to the President Cho Jung-tai was also present in the meeting.
