She continued to remind the public that the Spirit of Taiwan is the distillation sublimated from endless calamities and challenges that have come and then been subdued and now still stands high and strong. "Chiang rendered visible a flame of hope to the people of Taiwan when he was alive, and now, even after his death, we have to pass onward the torch lightened up by the flame," she concluded in her address.
