Vice President Lu Attends 2nd Forum on National Security, Social Stability, and People's Safety
2006-08-12

Vice President Lu Attends 2nd Forum on National Security, Social Stability, and People's Safety.
Vice President Annette Lu on August 12 attended the "Living in Peace, Rejoicing in Work, and Promoting A Desirable Society" forum, the second of a series of forums on national security, social stability, and people's safety.

This series of forums is a campaign collectively initiated and supported by international associations, women's groups, religious groups, and businesses, to which the vice president extends her admiration.

To have the voice from the civil society heard by those engaging in the political arena, the vice president will invite opposition leaders to meet one another on September 11 and comment on the summaries reached in those forums.

"I hope," she said in conclusion, "September 11, although traumatic to the world for the terrorist attacks taking place on that day, will mark the day for reconciliation between Taiwan's political parties."

This forum will be followed by another four focusing on different themes on the coming Saturdays.
