In an inspection tour to the Air Force's Leshan Radar Station on August 16 in Hsinchu City with Defense Minister Lee Jye, President Chen Shui-bian, in his capacity as the commander-in-chief of the three services, recognized the garrison members' toil and sweat in guarding the country.
The president reminded the troop members to take good care of themselves for they are bound by the limited living conditions provided by the radar station, a military base standing 2,620 meters above sea level.
The president and the defense minister's arrival was warmly welcome and appreciated by the garrison members.
