Vice President Lu Attends "National Security, Social Stability, People's Safety" Forums IV
2006-08-26

In a forum on Taiwan's education held on August 26 in Taipei, Vice President Annette Lu said that in addition to professionalism, "perspectives on the world, on Taiwan as a country, on life, and on genders" must also be emphasized in education.

She encouraged students to develop a correct point of view on politics, to think thoroughly about what is worth pursuing in life, and to appreciate and respect differences in terms of gender and personal outlook.

Commenting on the current political contention, she said she does not wish to see students' right to education impaired by any demonstrations conducted in school areas.

This education forum is the fourth of a series of forums on Taiwan's national security, social stability, and people's safety.
