President Chen Shui-bian on September 3 officiated at the 2006 memorial ceremony for people who died for the country at the Martyrs' Shrine in Yuangshan, Taipei City.
Accompanied by Mark Chen, Secretary-General to the President, President Chen arrived at the Martyrs' Shrine at 8:00 a.m. After the playing of the national anthem, President Chen delivered a eulogy and made three bows.
Vice President Annette Lu, Premier Su Tseng-chang and Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng accompanied President Chen at the ceremony.
Other attendants included legislators, central and local government officials, armed forces representatives and family members of the martyrs. After the ceremony, President Chen greeted the representatives of martyrs' families.
