President Chen Shui-bian received the Taiwan Homerun, a beep baseball team, on September 22 and congratulated the players on their outstanding performance in the World Series of Beep Baseball.
In the meeting, President Chen particularly expressed his appreciation to many non-governmental organizations, saying that without their contributions, the baseball development in Taiwan couldn't be so successful.
President Chen said that the blind people need more motivation, efforts and patience to play baseball than normal people, but their success would give more inspirations to others.
Also present at the meeting were Coach Chen Chi-tang, Legislator Hsiao Bi-khim and Deputy Secretary-General to the President Cho Jung-tai.
