On September 26, President Chen Shui-bian extended his congratulations to Shinzo Abe, Japan's new prime minister, through a letter, which was forwarded by Koh Se-kai, Taiwan's representative to Japan.
In the congratulatory letter, President Chen said that Abe's election is a symbol of recognition by the Japanese people of the loyal and outstanding services he has made over the years and of his great vision of building Japan into a beautiful country.
In addtition to extending his congratultations to the youngest prime minister after World War II, President Chen wishes Japan a prosperous future and hopes to maintain a stable relationship with Japan under the leadership of Shinzo Abe.
