President & Mrs. Chen and Vice President Lu Wish the Nation's Young a Happy Children's Day in Electronic Cards
2007-04-03

The Office of the President's Department of Public Affairs on April 3 announced that as April 4 is Children's Day, President Chen Shui-bian & Mrs. Chen and Vice President Annette Lu have extended their best wishes to the nation's children via electronic Children's Day cards that have been specially posted on the Office of the President's website.

The Department of Public Affairs stated that the design of the Children's Day card issued by President & Mrs. Chen highlights the imagination and efforts of children to realize their dreams. The card depicts an inventor who seeks to create things that will bring wellbeing to the world and the pitcher Wang Chien-ming, whose talents on the baseball field have brought glory to Taiwan. These figures seek to express to children that they can make their dreams come true and make the world a better place for other children. President & Mrs. Chen want to wish each child health and happiness as they grow up. They also hope that each child will realize his or her wishes and have a happy childhood.

The electronic card released by Vice President Lu conveys how adults look upon children as their treasures and supports a sense of adventure in children to discover the world. It also expresses how adults should always protect and be with children. Vice President Lu also encourages children to open their hearts and eyes and explore this curious, wonderful world.

The Department of Public Affairs furthermore indicated that pleasant music plays in the background when the card is called up, making the images on the screen even livelier. Everyone is invited to go to the Office of the President's website (address is: http://www.president.gov.tw/) and view the two electronic cards. Children are also welcome to send the cards to their classmates and friends, expressing their best wishes to each other on Children's Day.
