The Presidential Office's Department of Public Affairs on May 10 said that President Chen Shui-bian, First Lady Wu Shu-jen and Vice President Annette Lu have expressed their warmest wishes to the mothers of Taiwan for a Happy Mother's Day. The electronic cards bearing the good wishes have been posted on the website of the Office of the President in the run-up to Mother's Day.
The Department of Public Affairs said that the Mother's Day card from President Chen and First Lady Wu features a series of pictures that remind people about how wonderful their mothers are and the deep love, kindness, care, encouragement and support provided by mothers. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to grow up in a loving environment and focus our efforts on doing well in school and at work. President and Mrs. Chen express their heartfelt gratitude and good wishes to all of the mothers on Taiwan.
The Department of Public Affairs also said that the electronic card posted by Vice President Annette Lu describes a mother's love. "Like the spring breeze, bringing with it sweetness; Like the summer stars, illuminating our future path; Like the autumn moon, emitting a radiant affection; Like the winter sun, warming our souls." A mother's concern and embrace is with us the four seasons of the year, and these are the greatest gifts we have been given.
The Department of Public Affairs furthermore said that lovely background music accompanies the cards, making the images on the screen more animated.
