President & Mrs. Chen and Vice President Lu Issue E-cards to Mark Children's Day
2008-04-03

President Chen Shui-bian & First Lady Wu Shu-jen and Vice President Annette Lu on April 3 released electronic cards on the website of the Office of the President to wish Taiwan's young people a Happy Children's Day.

The Presidential Office's Department of Public Affairs said that April 4 marks the annual celebration of Children's Day. On the eve of this special day that belongs to children, President & Mrs. Chen and Vice President Lu have released electronic cards wishing the children of Taiwan a Happy Children's Day.

The Department of Public Affairs said that the electronic card issued by President & Mrs. Chen focuses on the theme of children enjoying their childhood. The card features several scenes, starting with the dropping of a marble and then progressing to children playing hopscotch, and then jumping rope. This card is meant to symbolize the carefree, enjoyable life that children should have. President & Mrs. Chen hope each child on Taiwan grows up healthy, works hard at school and does his or her part to make Taiwan someplace that everyone in the world knows about. The final scene of the card shows fireworks illuminating the sky and a message from President Chen and First Lady Wu wishing the nation's children the best.

The electronic card issued by Vice President Lu centers on the theme that the dreams of children pave the way for anything to be possible in the future. The card begins with a child taking flight in a hot air balloon. The balloon soars upward and then over the mountains and across the ocean, reaching a beautiful and free world. This triggers the dreams of children to take flight and enables them to see their unlimited potential for the future. In addition to wishing the nation's kids a Happy Children's Day, Vice President Lu also hopes that each child on Taiwan will bravely pursue his or her dreams, which will lead to unlimited possibilities in the future.

The Department of Public Affairs said that anyone can go to the website of the Office of the President to view the two electronic cards and receive the good wishes expressed by the President & Mrs. Chen and Vice President Lu. Children are welcome to forward the electronic cards to their classmates and friends.
