Taipei, March 10 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian met with ten physically challenged young people Monday who have been honored for their marvelous career achievements.
Chen admired them for their courage and endurance in overcoming their disadvantages, saying that for them, their physical challenges have been an extraordinary situation rather than a barrier or limitation and that their distinguished achievements in their work will inspire other physically challenged people to follow their lead.
The president also praised the Association for the Education and Entertainment of the Disabled and Handicapped in the Republic of China, which selects and honors the distinguished physically challenged every year, saying that the organization has been effective in encouraging the physically challenged to believe they can do almost anything they want. Their disadvantages do not hold them back when it comes to the pursuit of a happy and colorful life, he added.
