Vice President Vincent C. Siew on the afternoon of September 16 at the Presidential Building met with members of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). The vice president extended a warm welcome and appreciation to the visitors on their trip to Taiwan.
Vice President Siew said that the members of the YPO visiting Taiwan this time are all from the Asian region, who are taking advantage of this opportunity to meet and discuss the problems currently facing young entrepreneurs. He said that the topic of young entrepreneurs is especially meaningful at the time of a rapidly changing global economy.
The vice president said the YPO has a strong organization in Taiwan that dates back many years. Many of Taiwan’s entrepreneurs are YPO members, he said. In the future, a new generation of entrepreneurs will become members of the organization, injecting fresh vitality into the YPO, he said.
Vice President Siew also said that 20 years ago when he served as Economics Minister, he regularly attended events and activities held by the YPO. These activities not only were forward looking, but also educational in nature, he said. The vice president said the YPO platform has enabled many young entrepreneurs from Taiwan to exchange experiences and opinions with counterparts in other nations. This is helping Taiwan’s economic development to be in step with global economic trends, he said.
