Taipei, Feb. 27 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu received the winners of this year's International Biotechnology and Medical Care Innovation Awards and Quality Awards Thursday at the Presidential Office and praised them for their contributions to the welfare of mankind.
Noting that the biotechnology industry and medical care services are closely related to peoples' daily lives, Lu praised the 16 award winners for dedicating themselves to the research and development of new technologies, making great contributions to improving lives and living standards.
She also lauded her guests for their hard work and innovation, which she said sets a good example for the general public.
The awards, organized by the National Biotechnology and Medical Care Industry Association, are aimed at encouraging enterprises and individuals to innovate. The association is headed by Dr. Chen Wei-jao, president of National Taiwan University.
