Vice President Lu Receives the Outstanding Business Managers in Taiwan for 2002
2003-02-24

Taipei, Feb. 24 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu said Monday that Taiwan businessmen should keep their roots in Taiwan and never forget their motherland is Taiwan.

The vice president made the remarks while receiving the outstanding business managers in Taiwan for 2002. She also extended her congratulations to them and lauded them for keeping their roots in Taiwan.

She said that Taiwan businessmen enjoy incentives when they invest in mainland China because they come from Taiwan.

She also said that language affinity should not be the only reason for investing in the mainland rather than in other overseas locations, saying that investing in the mainland is not tantamount to going global.

She said that to be globally competitive, Taiwan businessmen need to be familiar with e-business, the English language and the rest of the world, which she said would help advance the nation's competitiveness.
