President Chen's Televised Talk, Entitled "A-bian Portrait"
2003-02-15

Taipei, Feb. 15 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian said Saturday in a pre-recorded broadcast that he will do his utmost to satisfy the public's needs. "It is my responsibility to satisfy the needs of the people, " Chen said.

Starting this weekend, President Chen will regularly talk about his policies and how he feels about major national affairs on television, radio and in the print media to strengthen communication with the public.

Chen's talks will be regular pre-recorded broadcasts on weekends, similar to U.S. President George W. Bush's weekly addresses.

In his first such address issued earlier in the day, Chen said he will make down-to-earth efforts instead of voicing empty talk in order to bring to realization his promise of providing a better life for the people.

President Chen also suggested that the public visit the website of the Presidential Office or send letters to express their opinions or feelings, which he said will be looked on with importance and used as a reference in running the country.
