                Chiou I-jen to Take over as Secretary-General of the Presidential Office
            
            
            
            
            
            
                
            
            
            
                
                President Chen Shui-bian has named Chiou I-jen, the current secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC), as the new secretary-general of the Presidential Office. Chiou will replace Chen Shih-meng, who has been chosen to serve as a senior presidential adviser. Kang Ning-hsiang will fill Chiou's vacancy at the NSC.
The new appointments will take effect on February 1, 2003.
