President Ma meets delegation from Association of Taiwanese American Certified Public Accountants
2010-12-02

President Ma Ying-jeou met with a delegation from the Association of Taiwanese American Certified Public Accountants at the Presidential Office on the afternoon of December 2. The president welcomed the group on their visit back to Taiwan and expressed his admiration for the excellence they have exhibited in their profession.

The president noted that the association is a non-profit professional organization comprised of Taiwanese-American accountants residing in the United States. This is the first time a delegation from the group has visited Taiwan since he assumed the presidency over two years ago, and the president said he is confident that the visit will help to boost interaction between the group and various sectors here. The trip will also enable members of the delegation to further understand related policies of the government. The president mentioned that accountants play an extremely important role in a free economic system and are a crucial link in every business.

The president also exchanged opinions with the visitors on a broad range of topics, including the key focal points of the government's foreign policy and its basic approach to governing.

The delegation, which was led by its chairwoman Rachel L. Siu, was escorted to the Presidential Office in the afternoon by Wu Ying-yih, Minister of the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission, to meet President Ma.
