Vice President Siew concludes visit to Latin American allies, returns to Taiwan

Vice President Vincent C. Siew, Mrs. Siew, and a delegation from the ROC returned to Taiwan on the evening of May 20 from a visit to allies in Latin America, bringing the 11-day journey to a successful conclusion. The group had stopovers en route in the United States.

In brief remarks at the airport, the vice president stated that the trip achieved its objectives of promoting friendly relations with allies, maintaining ties with overseas compatriots, and providing encouragement to staff of the ROC's embassies and technical missions in those nations. Vice President Siew also expressed his appreciation for the detailed planning undertaken by agencies here and overseas, as well as the arrangements and courtesies provided by the US government during his stopovers in the United States.

On hand to greet Vice President Siew upon his return to Taiwan were Presidential Secretary-General Wu Jin-lin (伍錦霖), Panamanian Ambassador to the ROC Mario Luis Cucalón, and Paraguayan Minister to the ROC Carlos José Fleitas Rodríguez.
