Taipei, Dec. 11 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian met Wednesday with visiting British scholar Barry Rider, who is president of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.
Chen thanked Barry for his role in facilitating cooperation between his institute and the Republic of China in organizing an international conference on economic crime.
He said he was all the more pleased to learn that Barry is exploring the possibility of academic exchanges between the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London and the law schools of National Taiwan University and Soochow University.
The president expressed hope that the exchanges will lead to more cooperation between the government and the University of London in organizing more international conferences.
