Taipei, Oct. 30 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu on Wednesday called for the strengthening of the country's sea power.
Speaking at a seminar organized by the Ministry of the Interior on maritime management, the vice president, who has advocated exploration of maritime resources by Taiwan, said that the country's future is on the sea and that the island should devote more resources to the exploration of the oceans.
Lu said the maritime management should include at least three topics, including defending the country's rights to its territorial waters, exclusive economic zone and continental shelf; protecting the security in the Taiwan Strait which is an important international sea corridor; and strengthening the country's sea power.
