President Chen Receives Members of U.K. Parliament

Taipei, Oct. 24 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian received a parliamentary delegation consisting of Scottish members of the British House of Commons.

He welcomed the visitors and expressed hope that bilateral economic cooperation between Taiwan and the United Kingdom, particularly Scotland, will be further enhanced through the visit.

Chen noted that about 70 percent of Taiwan's investment in Europe is in Britain, half of which is in Scotland.

Members of the delegation included Irene Adams, Frank Roy and Rosemary McKenna. They were accompanied on their visit to the president by ROC Vice Foreign Minister Chen Jong-nan and Presidential Deputy Secretary-General Wu Chao-hsieh.

The visitors told Chen that they will strive to help Taiwan acquire its deserved status in the international community.
