President Ma's second-day itinerary in Honduras
At 8:30 a.m. on January 27 Honduras time (10:30 p.m. Taipei time), National Security Council Secretary-General Jason C. Yuan (袁健生), Minister of Foreign Affairs David Y. L. Lin (林永樂), and ROC Ambassador to the Republic of Honduras Joseph Y. L. Kuo (郭永樑) accompanied President Ma Ying-jeou to the Honduran National Stadium to attend the inauguration of Honduran President-elect Juan Orlando Hernandez.
After arriving at the stadium, President Ma was escorted to the platform for heads of state and was seated in the first row, with Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla Miranda seated next to him on one side and Dominican Republic Vice President Rafael Francisco Alburquerque de Castro on the other. President Ma exchanged pleasantries with these leaders and others.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a traditional religious blessing, followed by the playing of the Honduran national anthem and a flyover by planes from the Honduran air force. The newly installed President Hernandez then delivered his inaugural address. Among the other heads of state attending the ceremonies to offer their congratulations were Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon, Panama President Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Berrocal, and Crown Prince of Spain Felipe de Borbon.
After the conclusion of the inauguration ceremonies, President Ma and the members of his delegation, together with the heads of state and leaders attending the ceremonies, went to the Honduran presidential palace to attend a state banquet held by President Hernandez. Upon the completion of the banquet, President Ma boarded his chartered aircraft at 5:55 p.m. local time and departed Honduras, marking an end to his two-day visit there.
