Taipei, Oct. 11 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu received Gambian Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture Susan Waffa-Ogooh at the Presidential Office Friday.

Waffa-Ogooh was accompanied by John Paul Bojang, Gambian Ambassador to the Republic of China. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kau Ying-mao was also present.

Lu thanked Waffa-Ogooh for coming to Taiwan to attend the ROC National Day celebrations and asked her to extend her regards to Gambian President Yahya Jammeh.

Waffa-Ogooh, in turn, thanked the government and the people of the ROC for its strong support for her country. She said she believed that the relationship between the two countries will further be strengthened in the future.

Lu said that the ROC attaches great importance to its friendship with Gambia. She cited beautiful color cloth made in Gambia as expressing her hope that a plaza for marketing Gambian specialties can be set up here in Taiwan to introduce Gambian culture.

Lu visited Gambia late last year. She said that the ROC is willing to help Gambia improve its economy and promote its people's welfare.

She suggested that Gambia develop its chicken farming industry to ease its imports of chicken. The ROC's abundant experience in automation and mechanization of chicken farming can be used for reference, she said, adding that the ROC welcomes Gambia to send personnel to the ROC to learn chicken farming.
