Taipei, Aug. 17 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu returned to Taipei Saturday evening from a four-day trip to Indonesia which she described as a very difficult but fruitful diplomatic offensive. "I have met with many important people during the trip," a pleasant Lu told reporters shortly after she landed at Chiang Kai-shek International Airport by a China Airlines flight.
She expressed thanks to Indonesian friends for extending hands of friendship.
The vice president said that the trip was made in line with President Chen Shui-bian's "Go South" policy, designed to encourage Taiwan businessmen to divert their investment projects from mainland China to Southeast Asia.
She stressed that "Taiwan must walk on its own road--a road to justice, brightness and dignity."
Saying that both Taiwan and Indonesia are ocean countries, Lu pointed out that Indonesia is a friendly country which can enter strategic alliance with Taiwan and is the "new paradise" for Taiwan investors.
