President Chen Bestows the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon on Ambassador-at-large Jeffrey Koo
Taipei, Aug. 15 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian bestowed the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon on Ambassador-at-large Jeffrey Koo Thursday, in recognition of his long-standing contributions in promoting Taiwan's international relations and trade diplomacy.
Witnesses to the ceremony included Koo's wife and relatives, Secretary-General to the President Chen Shih-meng, and Deputy Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Michael Ying-mao Kau.
Koo, who is also chairman of Chinatrust Commercial Bank, said he wanted to share the honor with his friends in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who have taught him so much about expanding Taiwan's international relations.
Koo said although he had encountered many setbacks in his diplomatic work, it was the patriotism and unselfishness that made him stick to his job and accomplish his work.
