Taipei, June 24 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian extended a warm welcome to the Senegalese national soccer team during a meeting at the Presidential Office Monday.
Chen also recognized the Senegalese national team's amazing performance at the 2002 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, saying the squad's outstanding showing proves that any country can win world respect through hard work and sweat.
The Senegalese national soccer team, which reached the final eight at this year's World Cup, arrived in Taipei Sunday from Japan for a whirlwind visit aimed at promoting friendship with local soccer fans.
