President Tsai hosts luncheon for 2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Week delegation
President Tsai Ing-wen hosted a luncheon on January 16 for the ROC delegation that represented Taiwan at the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Week to thank them for their hard work at APEC.
In remarks, President Tsai said she invited the delegates to the Presidential Office luncheon to thank them once again, acknowledging that the trip was quite a challenge because their every move was subject to close scrutiny. She specially thanked Chairman James Soong (宋楚瑜) of the People First Party, who served as the Leader's Representative, and his daughter Ms. Soong Cheng-mai (宋鎮邁) for their hard work.
President Tsai also mentioned that Chairman Soong said it had been a difficult trip for his daughter, but he was proud of her. The president added that the entire delegation faced numerous difficulties, but had made her proud.
Among the delegates at the luncheon were: Chairman James Soong (also Senior Advisor to the President); Ms. Soong Cheng-mai (Chairman Soong's daughter); Dr. Chen Mei-ling (陳美伶), Executive Yuan's Minister without Portfolio and Minister of the National Development Council; Minister of Economic Affairs Jong-Chin Shen (沈榮津); Executive Yuan's Minister without Portfolio John C. C. Deng (鄧振中), who served as the delegation spokesperson; National Security Council Advisor Lin Liang-jung (林良蓉); National Development Council Deputy Minister Chiou Jiunn-Rong (邱俊榮); National Policy Advisor to the President Qin Jia Hong (秦嘉鴻); Dr. Kai Ma (馬凱), chief editorial writer at the Economic Daily News; Business Today publisher and spokesperson Hsieh Chin-ho (謝金河); Professor Lee Hong-yuan (李鴻源) of National Taiwan University; Legislator Lee Hung-Chun (李鴻鈞); I-Mei Foods Co. Chairman Henry Kao (高志尚); PChome Online Inc. Chairman Hung-tze Jan (詹宏志); and O-Bank Vice Chairperson Tina Yi-Chun Lo (駱怡君). Secretary-General to the President Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) and Minister of Foreign Affairs David T. Lee (李大維) also attended the luncheon.
