President Chen Issues an Order to Appoint Kang Ning-hsiang as Vice Minister of National Defense
Taipei, May 17 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian issued an order Friday to appoint incumbent Control Yuan member Kang Ning-hsiang to the post of administrative (civilian) vice minister of national defense, effective June 1.
Former ROC Air Force Commander-in-Chief, Gen. Chen Chao-ming, is presently the vice defense minister on active duty who is in charge of the military command system.
Kang, 64, had served as a Taipei City councilor, legislator, newspaper publisher, National Assembly deputy, and member of the National Unification Council under the Presidential Office.
He took the post as a member of the Control Yuan, the government's highest watchdog body, in 1993.
