President Tsai expresses condolences following earthquake in Haiti
A strong earthquake struck northwestern Haiti, one of Taiwan's diplomatic allies, yesterday (October 7 Taiwan time) resulting in significant losses and casualties. Presidential Office Spokesperson Huang Chung-yen (黃重諺) said that President Tsai Ing-wen was very concerned, and immediately requested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs update her about the disaster situation and security status of Taiwan nationals in Haiti. On behalf of the people of Taiwan, the president also expressed sincere condolences to the government and people of Haiti, and pledged that Taiwan stands ready to provide assistance at any time.
