President Chen Addresses the Inaugural Ceremony for a Research and Development Center of Kuozui Motors, Ltd.
Taipei, April 19 (CNA) ROC President Chen Shui-bian said Friday during a tour of a car assembly line that the government will continue to upgrade Taiwan's traditional industries.

Chen made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony for a research and development center of Kuozui Motors, Ltd. located in Taoyuan County, northern Taiwan.

Chen said that globalization is an ongoing phenomenon and that the government will continue to build the economy, foster a sound investment climate and join hands with private enterprises to upgrade the island's traditional industries.

Accompanied by Taoyuan County Magistrate Chu Li-lun and ranking officials of Kuozui Motors, Chen visited the factory's production line to see first hand the assembly of cars.

Chen lauded Kuozui Motors' highly efficient production and strict quality control. He also acknowledged the efforts the company has made to maintain high standards in the automobile industry. The president said that local automakers can match foreign manufacturers in style and construction. Chen encouraged those in the automobile industry to bring homegrown knowledge and skills to the world and keep Taiwan's auto industry in line with international standards.
