President Tsai expresses concern for Japan in wake of Typhoon Hagibis
President Tsai Ing-wen expressed concern for Japan after learning about casualties and losses in the wake of record-breaking rainfall from Typhoon Hagibis. The president already expressed her concern on the morning of October 13 via Twitter and in person to Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Taipei Office Chief Representative Mikio Numata at a meeting, as well as to the Japanese authorities via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offering sympathy and willingness to provide assistance. She also expressed hope that areas affected by the disaster will make a speedy recovery and that our Japanese friends are safe and sound.
