The Presidential Office has expressed gratitude for the signing by US President Donald Trump of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA 2020), which pays special attention to Taiwan's national security and China's attempts to influence elections in Taiwan.

Presidential Office Spokesperson Alex Huang (黃重諺) stated that Taiwan and the United States have a shared commitment to the fundamental values of freedom and democracy. On behalf of the Taiwan government, he also thanked President Trump and the US Congress for the importance they place on Taiwan's national security, and their support on this front. To safeguard national security and fulfill its responsibility to maintain regional peace and stability, said Spokesperson Huang, Taiwan will actively improve military readiness and build up its self-defense capabilities to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens, as well as regional stability and development. Spokesperson Huang said that Taiwan will continue communicating with the US administration to enhance Taiwan-US security cooperation, so that the two sides can work together to promote regional security, peace, and stability.
