President Tsai directs foreign minister to express condolences to France following terror attacks, ensure the safety of expatriates
In the wake of recent terror attacks in France, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) stated on October 30 that based on our shared universal values of democracy, human rights, and religious freedom, President Tsai Ing-wen directed Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) to convey to French Office in Taipei Director Jean-François Casabonne-Masonnave the Taiwan government's sincere condolences to the victims and their families. The president also condemned the terrorist violence and expressed Taiwan's support for the French government and people.
Spokesperson Chang also said that democratic societies should respect different religious beliefs, and that embracing diverse cultures through mutual respect and dialogue is the true essence of any democratic society. President Tsai also directed the Foreign Affairs Ministry to continue to monitor developments, together with our Representative Office in France, to keep abreast of the situation and provide Taiwan expatriates with all necessary assistance to ensure their safety.
