President Tsai calls Honduran President Hernández, expresses concern about post-hurricane recovery and reaffirms friendly bilateral ties
Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) said that President Tsai Ing-wen spoke with Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández by phone from the Presidential Office on the morning of December 24. President Tsai noted that their call coincided with Christmas Eve, which is a time to share special moments with good friends. On behalf of the Taiwan government and people, she also wished our friends and the people of Honduras a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
President Tsai also emphasized that Taiwan and Honduras share a long history of formal diplomatic ties, and that friendship and cooperation have continued to grow. Especially during President Hernández's tenure, that cooperation has expanded and the friendship between our countries has grown stronger.
During their phone call, President Tsai showed special concern for Honduras' hurricane recovery efforts and expressed sincere hope that after suffering two hurricanes this past November, Hondurans can resume their normal lives as soon as possible. She also said that Taiwan will always care for Honduras and that our bilateral friendship is unshakable.
The warm and friendly exchange between the two presidents lasted approximately ten minutes, with National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Koo (顧立雄) and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) also participating.
