Vice President Lu Receives a Delegation from the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO)
Taipei, March 29 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu received a delegation from the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Friday at the Presidential Office and thanked them for supporting the Republic of China's membership in the organization.
The vice president said that resisting great pressure from Beijing, FIGO recently admitted the accession of the ROC Association of Gynecology and Obstetrics, demonstrating its determination to defend the organization's dignity. The FIGO delegation, headed by President-elect Dr. Arnaldo Acosta, is on a goodwill visit in Taiwan. Established in 1954 for promoting the well-being of women and raising the standard of practice in obstetrics and gynecology, FIGO's membership now comprises 102 national societies.
