Kaohsiung, Feb. 26 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian lit the key lanterns at a ceremony held Tuesday evening in the southern port city of Kaohsiung to mark the annual Lantern Festival.
Addressing the ceremony, in which a jumping fish and flying dragon were featured as a theme on numerous paper lanterns, Chen said the vibrant theme lantern symbolizes Kaohsiung's fast development and upgrading as one of Taiwan's most important cities.
The festival was celebrated all over the island, with all the major cities lighting up their own theme lanterns amid festive celebrations.
