Good evening. Tonight, the night before Lunar New Year's Eve, I want to wish an early happy new year to everyone in Taiwan and all our friends celebrating the holiday around the world.
The past year was a year full of challenges. We are still addressing the repercussions of the pandemic, and we have witnessed significant changes in international and regional circumstances.
The coming year will still be full of challenges, such as COVID-19, global inflation, and restructuring of the supply chain; our administration will do its utmost to meet those challenges head-on.
In the face of frequent incursions by China's military vessels and aircraft, and even its military exercises in areas around Taiwan, our government stands firm in its resolve to safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and across the region. Our military is standing guard, doing their utmost to maintain national security and defend our homeland.
I want to thank our brothers and sisters in the armed forces for their efforts. I also want to thank all the police officers, fire fighters, medical personnel, and employees of state-run enterprises, as well as all those working in various professions who remain on duty, and who will continue to serve the public, during the new year holiday. We appreciate your hard work.
I also want to express my gratitude to our fellow citizens for their efforts and solidarity over the past year. In the new year, our government will continue to promote economic growth and recovery, defend our sovereignty, and preserve peace. Please join us in our continued efforts to create a better Taiwan.
