Taipei, Feb. 6 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian urged Beijing leaders Wednesday to take the opportunity to restart dialogue with Taiwan.
Speaking at a dinner given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foreign ambassadors and representatives to the Republic of China, the president said the ROC would like to co-exist with mainland China peacefully and thereby usher in a stable and prosperous period for both sides of the Strait.
Reiterating his repeated hope to talk with Beijing leader Jiang Zemin in person about ways to ensure peaceful ties between the two sides, the president urged Jiang to make the most of the historic opportunity to restart dialogue with Taiwan and bring peace to people on both sides of the Strait.
