Managua, Nicaragua, Jan. 10 (CNA) Republic of China Vice President Annette Lu visited new Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolanos Geyer Thursday to congratulate him on behalf of President Chen Shui-bian on his inauguration.
Lu also conveyed Chen's regards to Bolanos during their meeting at the Nicaraguan Presidential Office.
Bolanos, who was sworn into office in a grand ceremony held earlier in the day, expressed his hearty appreciation for the ROC's long-term assistance to his country's economic development.
The Nicaraguan president said he hopes that existing ROC-Nicaraguan cooperative programs can be further expanded and that Taiwan companies will invest more heavily in his Central American country.
