Presidential Secretary-General Receives Winners of the 43rd Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award

On behalf of the President, Presidential Secretary-General Yu Shyi-kun thismorning received winners of the 43rd Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award. In addition to welcoming them to the Presidential Office, Yu congratulated them on winning the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award.nnYu said that winners of the award are the elite in their respective areas of expertise. Due to their longtime efforts in their professional fields, they eventually win the recognition from the outside world. This is the reason that they have stood out above the rest and won the Award. The President gives high recognition and respect to the achievements of the winners.nnYu further noted that the winners specialize in different professions. Each one of them has a touching story behind them. Two female winners have had to work harder in a workplace dominated by males. Although physically-challenged, they have overcome their physical handicap and have done exceptionally well in their respective fields. Their spirit is admirable. Winners of the award embody Taiwan's vitality and demonstrate the spirit of not fearing hardship, perseverance, and endeavor of the Taiwanese people.nnOn behalf of the President, the secretary-general also hoped the winners could become the role model of the Taiwan society and the youths. In addition, he thanked Junior Chamber International Taiwan for holding selections of outstanding young persons over the years. These events have fostered outstanding persons for the society and illuminated the bright side of the society. Yu emphasized that in times of globalization, the competitiveness of human resources is particularly important. As long as everyone is competitive, the country naturally becomes internationally competitive. On behalf of the President, he urged the winners to have higher expectations for themselves so that the task of sustaining the country could be passed down from generation to generation.
