On September 21 (US EDT), United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Motegi Toshimitsu, and South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun met and issued a joint statement emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, opposing any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo, and supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations. The statement also reaffirmed support for preserving freedom of navigation and overflight for all nations in the Indo-Pacific and around the world, in accordance with the principles of international law reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. In response, Presidential Office Spokesperson Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) stated on September 22 that peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the region represent the broadest consensus in the international community, are essential to global security and prosperity, and concern core interests shared by countries around the world. She said that the Presidential Office welcomes and appreciates that the three countries' foreign ministers have demonstrated, through concrete action, their firm stance on security and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the region.

Spokesperson Kuo stated that, amid a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, only through cooperation among democratic partners can the rules-based international order be upheld. Taiwan stands on the frontline of the democratic world, she said, and as a responsible member of the regional and international community, is determined to maintain regional peace and stability. She added that Taiwan will continue to work with like-minded democratic partners to enhance its self-defense capabilities, strengthen supply chain security and resilience, jointly safeguard the values of freedom and democracy, and make even greater contributions to the world.
